Ah, two weekends off

Well, I am definately looking forward to this weekend.  It is Easter after all.  The very reason I am who I am and I do what I do.  If it weren’t for Christ’s Resurrection from the dead, His life would have been meaningless.  Sure He did a lot of great things, perfomed miracles, and quite frankly He was a darn good teacher, but if He had only died, what would be the big deal?  See, a lot of people through the years have done a lot of great things.  A lot have performed miracles.  And there are some pretty good teachers even today.  But the one thing that sets Jesus apart from alllllll of the others?  He rose from the grave and is alive even now.  No one else has been able to accomplish that feat.  For if you understand the torture that Jesus experienced on that Friday so long ago, you would understand that no one, no, not one could have survived His cruel death.  So He didn’t just lie in the tomb until He felt better and then got up.  He died. DIED.  Dead.  No life, no breath, no heartbeat, nothing.  But three days later, He came to life again.  Without the help of any adrenaline or shock paddles.  He just got up and walked out of the grave.  Tell me if you can, any other person that has accomplished something like that – I dare ya!

Happy Easter everyone!

Almost Famous Author’s Faire

Hey everyone!

I wanted to let you know that I will be in Clarksville, IN this Saturday from Noon – 7 p.m. at the Almost Famous Author’s Faire.  I am hoping that many of you will come out to visit me so that everyone will think that I am famous!  Ha ha ha!  Anyway, it’s at the Green Tree Mall, so if you can’t find a book you might be interested in, you can go shopping instead!  Sounds like great fun to me!

Have a blessed day!

Richmond Market

I have discovered that I don’t always care for God’s sense of humor.  Nor does He care for mine, at times.

This weekend at the Richmond Market, I sold just enough books to pay the booth fee.  He keeps reminding me that I’m not here to make a profit, but to share His Word.  I was so frustrated after Saturday I was ready to hang it all up and quit.  Then I went to church Sunday.  Again, this sense of humor I don’t always find amusing:  The sermon was about not worrying about tomorrow.   You know, the whole birds of the air thing.

Okay, okay, I’ll shut up Lord!  I asked Him to help me with my frustrating moments and to give me the courage to press on…

Maybe I ought to write a book about that.

Ah, the dreaded infection…

Sorry folks, my computer has contracted a virus.  It took my nephew two days to retrieve my important files and documents from my computer because it kept freezing up.  But alas, the recovery is done and now he is going to restore it to is former glory.  It was quite scary to think I may never see my books again.  I mean in their raw format of course.

I am currently at my sister’s house, using her computer.  She is generous with her time.

I did want to share some exciting news about last weekend.  I spoke to several great contacts last week at the Lebanon Antique and Craft show.  One shared with me that her son works for a Christian Movie Production company out in L.A.  She told me that they are always looking for stories to make movies out of and she would share with him about my books.  How exciting!

Another gentleman works for St. Catherine’s College.  They have a huge interest in promoting reading and local authors and he invited me to come and speak and do a book signing with them and the Catholic community.  Another exciting opportunity.  Now I get to sit and wait……

My next venture is in Richmond, KY at the Senior Center.  They are hosting a craft fair and already have over 50 vendors signed up.  If you live in the Richmond, KY area, make sure and stop in to see me on the 20th of March.

Hope to see you there!

To My Beaumont Forever Family:

Thanks you guys!  You all are awesome!  I can’t even begin to describe to you the warm fuzzies I got from having instant feedback from your reading of the books.  You all are awesome and I am so proud of the maturity and growth you all shared in your faith walks.  It is not easy to be a Christian in school and I am glad that you have found a group of like minded believers to hang with and to encourage one another.

Your encouragement came at just the right time.  This is not an easy road to be on, but with your encouragement and support, I will keep trudging forward for the cause of Christ.  Please keep me in your prayers, and I will do the same with you.  I look forward to the many things God has in store for you and the Beaumont FCA group.  Stay strong in the faith and maybe I will see you again soon!

In Christ Alone,

Struggling just a bit

Hi all,

I’m back from Florida and I’m sorta wondering what to do next.  My friend told me to go full out with my books and see how they do.  Well, I’ve tried that and time and money are running out.  I have gotten wonderful feedback from both Never Alone and Forever Family.   But as it stands right now, I don’t have the resources to get my third book published, so here I am.

I know that this is the direction that God is telling me to go.  And yet, the financial aspects of this ministry will bankrupt me.  I trust God to provide for me.  He always has and He always will.  The books are not making enough for me to sustain a living – so I am waiting on direction from Him on what to do next.  Only – He’s not talking yet.

So, as I sit and wait, would you do me the honor of intervening on my behalf in prayer:  Prayer for this ministry to be self-sustaining, prayer for direction, affirmation, finances, that teens would grow in their relationships with Christ because of these books, prayer that a publisher would find me and pick me up.

I do appreciate the prayers of the Saints.  And if God gives you a Word for me, would you share it with me?

Thanks!

One of the warmest feelings of all….

I am currently in Florida, sitting with my grandmother while my parents vacation in Mexico.  I have been rather disappointed with the weather down here.  While I don’t mind cold weather, I don’t expect coldness while I’m in the deep, deep south of Florida.

At home, they have been inundated with snow and freezing rain.  Though that can be uncomfortable, it is expected there.

As I was pondering my niece and nephew’s predicament, about whether or not they would have school, I was reminded of what I would call – the warmest feeling of all.

There is just something magical about that moment…

The news reports are all predicting snow – and lots of it!  As a kid, you wait all night, staring out the window for the first flake to fall.  But, nothing happens.  So, you go to bed hoping.  It’s hard to sleep because you are so excited about the snow fall.  Finally you drift off, never knowing whether or not you will have to get up in the morning for school.

You wake up – around three in the morning – and sneak in to see the TV hoping they have listed your school as closed.  Nothing.  So you creep back to bed and have to struggle to get your feet warm again.

You know you are dreaming when your mom finally comes into your room and whispers in your ear – “No school today, you can go back to sleep.”

Then it hits you – the warmest feeling of all.  It starts in your toes and works its way all the way up your body.  You pull your blanket up around your face and smile.  Then you slowly drift into a warm, feel good sleep.  No school today.  Yay!

Florida Days

Well, I came to Naples to stay with my grandmother and my mom’s new puppy, Effie.  I got a little sun yesterday but the day today seems overcast and windy.  A threat of rain hangs over the air and my knee is hurting – always a sure sign.  Every so often we get a hint of the sun, trying to break through.  Maybe this afternoon, I can get some sun.

I have been praying over the next turn for Celeste in my book.  She is an interesting character, a lot like me, but yet very different.  Everybody loves her because she is so good, yet not stuck up.  People like to be around her.   She is pretty and popular, but she always puts others first.  She says it’s because she wants the world to know Jesus through her.  And I feel the same way about myself.  But she is human, and I am struggling on how to show her humanity without totaly ruining her character.  She knows she is forgiven, but the world wants to know what she is forgiven for.

So, I’ve already started numbers four and five.  Five seems to be developing faster.  Maybe because it’s related to Forever Family.  So, if you believe in me and what I am doing, I would appreciate your prayers on the direction of these characters and storylines.  I really want to do God’s will and teach with these stories.

Thanks,

Jan
